The Colorado School of Mines EMCIS program has spent considerable time attempting to improve the quality of MSHA Annual Refresher Training.  Along with this goal for improvement they have developed presentations that vary the type of material, the type of delivery and those that add “fun” to the training.  Some examples of training games are Mineopoly, You blew up my Haul Truck, Jenga, Jeopardy and 4 squares.  Each of these games requires the trainees to look back at their past training to answer pertinent questions about Health, Explosive Safety, Ground Control, Hazard Communication and many other required subjects presented during New Miner Training.  Examples of each will be presented and results of evaluations shared to show the effectiveness of these techniques in Annual Refresher Training.
