Over the past half-century, rules, regulations, and compliance training have significantly reduced injury rates. However, Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows that progress has stalled. Addressing unsafe acts and the worksite culture that allows them remains challenging. Recent research links individuals' inherent traits to their injury risk and connects frontline leadership to crew injury rates. In this workshop, we will explore this research in depth, offering insights into the root causes of workplace injuries and providing safety professionals with the "why" they have been seeking to further reduce incidents and improve workplace safety culture.
